The training programme of five days on environmental economics for officials from government and non-governmental organizations can be organized. The objective of the course would be to acquaint the officials with the principles of environmental economics and the potential applications in the formulation of environmental policy. 

The lectures could be covered on four sections:

  • Applications - Policy Instruments, Valuation 

  • Case Studies 

  • Global Issues

Introduction about the hosting institute
Introduction about the training programme
Overview of Environmental Economics
Efficiency and the Markets 
Market Failure and Theory of Externalities 

The topics to be covered on Day 2 are:

Welfare Economics 
Regulating Pollution 
Different Channels of Regulation 
Case Studies on Controlling Air Pollution 

The topics to be covered on Day 3 are:

Case Studies on Controlling Water Pollution 
Valuation of Health Impact of Pollution (Different Approaches) and Case Studies 
Field Trip to any prominent industry near to the hosting institute where the ecofriendly techniques have been adapted 

The topics to be covered on Day 4 are:

Theory and Methods of Valuation 
Global Environmental Issues 
Trade and Environment 
The Economics of Sustainable Development 

The last day of the training programme would end up with:

Seminar presentation by participants
Panel Discussion 
Valedictory Session 
Distribution of Certificates to Participants 
Vote of Thanks
